What is a bare root strawberry plant?

A bare root plant is a dormant strawberry crown with roots but little or
no soil, shipped or sold without a pot so it’s easier and more
affordable to move in quantity.

Will bare root strawberries fruit in the first year?

With good planting and care, many bare root strawberries can produce a
light crop in the first season, with heavier yields in the second year
once the plants are established.

How should I store bare root plants before planting?

Keep roots cool and just slightly moist, not soaked: leave them in the
shipping bag with lightly moistened packing material, refrigerate if
needed, and never stand them in water.

How long can I hold plants before planting?

Aim to plant within about a week of receiving them; if you must wait
longer, keep them cool and moist and heel them into damp soil so the
roots don’t dry out.

What’s the difference between potted plants and hanging baskets?

A: Potted plants come in 4inch,7 inch or 1-gallon containers ready for garden beds or
larger planters, while hanging baskets are already planted, filled out,
and designed to fruit decoratively right on the deck or porch.

Do hanging basket strawberries produce a lot of fruit?

Everbearing varieties like Albion can give repeated flushes of sweet
berries through the season when grown in baskets with regular watering
and feeding.
